Although Duns is a small town, it boasts
two castles, Duns Castle the ancestral home of the Hay family and Wedderburn
Castle, both are frequently used as wedding venues. |
Duns is home to the Jim Clark Museum and the Jim
Clark Memorial Rally which is run on closed roads, usually during the
first week of July. Leisure facilities in the town include a bowling green, swimming pool, park and 18 hole golf course. |

For the fisherman, temporary licences can be obtained
in Duns for local rivers, or if you prefer there is the Watchwater reservoir
or sea fishing from Eyemouth or St.Abbs small villages on the East coast within 20 miles of Duns. |
For golfers, as well as our own Duns course, there
are several others within easy reach, including, Eyemouth, Kelso and
Goswick With Edinburgh an easy drive away there are also Championship courses both in Edinburgh itself or on the way, at Dunbar, North Berwick and Gullane. |

The Border Country is a walkers paradise, there
are many pleasant walks around the Duns Castle Estate. T he Pennine Way finishes 25 miles away and the Southern Upland Way passes within 10 miles. There are also several facinating walks around the area, listed in various good walking guide books. |
Beaches at Berwick on Tweed, Eyemouth and Coldingham
are also within easy reach of Duns. Close to Coldingham is The St Abbs Nature Reserve which has many coastal walks and in St Abbs village itself, there is a diving centre which is a base for many spectacular clear water dives. |

The Four Border Abbeys founded by King David the First, are easily reached, located at Kelso, Dryburgh, Melrose and Jedburgh. |
Edinburgh is just over an hour away and if you travel
via the A1 you pass close to the Museum of Flight at East Fortune airfield,
where one of the famous Concorde aircraft will have its final home. |
